Cause I love you, I found a WOLVERINE you can enjoy.

Wolverine and the X-men...

It always sounded like a blatant attempt to cash in on the Wolverine character and his current popularity. And well I was right, as usual, however these clever cartoon folk have done something very cool. They also made this new series kick ass.

For the premise watch the trailer here -

Wolverine And The X-Men - Official Trailer - The top video clips of the week are here

Love this trailer, gives you a great idea of the kind of ass kickery and fast talking Wolverine does best.

So its a world without Xavier, Wolverine's in charge and mutants are on the run, but that's just for starters. What is so bloody clever about this is the way they have squished 50 or so years of x-men history into the cartoon. And they've cherry picked some of the best stuff, but the little elves have done it with finesse so that plots from early x-men blend seamlessly with some of the newest material.

I don't want to go into much more detail because it could ruin some of the surprises, if your a big fan of the x-men you MUST watch this as it really is a treat. And if your not big fan then you MUST watch it also otherwise I will come to your house, sneak in while you sleep, a screw with your mp3 playlists.

Whats more the superbly written story arch leads perfectly into a second series which looks to be even more of an ass kicking fest. He really is the best at what he does.

Sweet.

Matthew J Griffin - What's with the pissing cyclops?

Have you ever wondered why we have a pissing cyclops as our mascot?

Well it's because Matthew J Griffin told us to - he's a wicked illustrator from Ireland.

Look, here is a picture of a man and a giant worm he has recently constructed with pens for Irish Angler magazine.

Cool huh?

Anyway give him work because he is good and deserves to continue to be able to live.

His blog is here!

Avatar: The Last Air bender, I’m a big fan

Ok bare with me on this one.

I’ve been a fan of kids TV for a while now. They are some really great shows out there if you can find them. They appeal to not only the younger viewer but to everyone that has the time to sit down and watch them.

Luckily I do have the time at the moment, and finally after a year of trying. I have been able to watch pretty much all of Avatar: The Last Air Bender, and let me tell you that it was a very enjoyable experience.

It’s an American Take on a Japanese Anime. which should be rubbish, but its really quite good.

The premise is pretty decent. The world is split in to 4 different tribes, earth, fire, wind and water. Each tribe controls its respective element, and lording over all of them is the Avatar. The Avatar can control all of the elements and is super duper powerful and brings balance to the world by policing the different nations. The problem is that the current one has disappeared resulting in the fire nation trying to take over the world. So when the Avatar is found in a block of ice, he must learn all of the different element based fighting styles, so he can defeat the fire national and restore balance to the world...oh and he’s a 10 year old boy.

So the best way of getting across my love for the show is definitely in the bullet point format:

  • The crazy animals that inhabit the world:
    Badger Moles
    Wolf Bats
    Platypus Bears
    Sky Bison

Every animal seems to be mixed with another, which is an interesting twist.

  • Sokka:
He actually makes me laugh out loud, brilliant. Remember kids, don’t do drugs

  • Snogging

  • I have never seen so much full blown snogging in a cartoon. It’s brilliant.

  • The fighting

  • Each of the different fighting styles have been really thought through. They mimic the different element that they are using. The action is fast pasted and really well choreographed. It makes me happy.

  • The cabbage guy

  • This is Avatar's "running gag". This guy is trying to sell his cabbages but his stall is always getting destroyed, resulting in him shouting "MY CABBAGES"...comic genius

*excuse the stupid intro, this is the only video I could find*

There’s going to a proper film about it. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan...which scares me. After the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable he hasn’t really done anything that hasn’t been utter cack.

However as this isn’t something he has written, it might be ok...MIGHT

    Thundercats movie, ho!

The chances of a Thundercats movie appearing on our screens in the next few years look pretty likely after Warner Brothers optioned a script based on the TV show we all used to watch as kids. Forgotten about Lion-O, Panthro and Cheetara? Let this refresh your childhood memories.

This is all good news for the rubbish band Mumm-Ra, as it's sure to mean they hand onto their record deal for a few years longer at least. Surely, a Mumm-Ra soundtrack to the Thundercats movies is a total must now.
